Our Story
The Margie Shortt Dance Studio has been in Gulf Breeze since 1973. Since then, the studio has grown quite a bit but our mission stays the same - to inspire and nurture a lifelong love for dance in every child, empowering them with the skills, confidence, and creativity to express themselves through movement. We believe in giving children the gift of dance, which not only teaches technique but also instills discipline, self-esteem, and the joy of artistic expression. Through a supportive and structured environment, we help every student develop their unique potential, while fostering a love of the art that will stay with them for a lifetime.
Our Studio
The studio features a wooden spring floating floor, ballet barres, and floor-to-ceiling mirrors. Students begin by mastering the foundational techniques of dance, including rhythm, body alignment, music appreciation, and dance terminology. Along the way, they also build self-confidence, foster friendships, and develop grace. Our graded dance system ensures each dancer progresses at their own pace, supporting steady growth and improvement. We offer tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, pointe, lyrical, and acrobatics classes.
Our History
In 2023, our studio hit a wondrous milestone; celebrating 50 years of dance! Our studio has built a proud legacy of inspiring and shaping dancers for generations. Over the decades, we’ve nurtured talent, fostered a sense of community, and watched countless dancers develop their skills, confidence, and passion for the art form. With half a century of experience, we continue to honor our tradition of quality instruction, while evolving to meet the needs of future generations of dancers. As we move forward, we carry those memories with us, using them as a foundation for inspiration.
