The Margie Shortt Dance Studio has been in Gulf Breeze since 1973. There is no greater gift that you can give your child than the love and the capability to dance. Our graded dance system insures the steady progress of each student. The studio is equipped with a wooden spring floating floor, ballet barres, and floor to ceiling mirrors. Dancers start learning the basic techniques of dance, rhythm, proper alignment of one’s own body, music appreciation, self-confidence, friendship, grace, and dance terminology. After 40 weeks of dance training and incorporating all of the above, the dancers have the opportunity to participate in our dance production.
A dancer must be 2 ½ years old before September 1 in order to enroll in the current dance season. General classes include a combination of Tap, Ballet and Acrobatics and are one-hour long once a week. Specialty classes are one-subject in either Tap, Ballet, Pointe, Jazz/Hip Hop, or Acrobatics and are 45 minutes long once a week. Students are placed in classes according to ability at the discretion of our instructors.
